Reports, planning views and lot traceability

Use the dashboard, schedule, capacity, calendar, 16 reports, pivot, graphs and the lot trace to follow production.

Required permission: manufacturing.view; manufacturing.cost.view for cost reports

Before you begin

You need manufacturing.view. Cost reports (Material Consumption, Scrap, WIP, Variances, Standard vs Actual Cost, R048) and money columns need manufacturing.cost.view; without it they are removed and cost reports do not appear in All Reports.

Everyday views

  1. Dashboard (Manufacturing > Manufacturing > Dashboard) shows tiles: Open MOs, Released, In Progress, Late Orders, Production Today, Material Shortages, Quality Failures and Scrap %. Open MOs counts Draft, Planned, Firmed, Released and In Progress. Cost tiles (WIP Value, Production Variance) appear only with cost permission. Click a card row to open the order.
  2. Manufacturing Orders has tabs with counts (Open, Draft, Planned, Released, In Progress, Late, Completed, Closed, Cancelled), search by number, source reference or lot, and a List or Cards toggle that is remembered.
  3. Production Calendar shows a month of orders, holidays, overtime and maintenance blocks.
  4. Production Schedule is a timeline of work orders by Day, Week or Month, grouped by work centre, resource or product. Late bars are marked.
  5. Capacity Planning shows load hours against available hours per work centre for 7, 14 or 31 days. Red means over capacity; 85 % or more is high.
  6. Material Shortages lists short components with suggestions.

Run a report

  1. Open a report under Manufacturing > Reports or from All Reports.
  2. Set From and To. The default is the first of the month two months back to today. The end cannot precede the start: 'The period ends before it starts.'
  3. Review the table. Click a row to open its order.
  4. Use CSV to download (named like plan_vs_actual-<from>-<to>.csv) or Print.
ReportAnswers
Production SummaryOrders in the period with quantities, scrap and cost
Plan vs ActualQuantity and hours against plan, On time, Late or Open
Material ConsumptionRequired, issued, returned and consumed
Work Center UtilizationAvailable, planned and worked hours
Production EfficiencyYield and labour efficiency per product
Scrap, Quality, DowntimeLosses, pass rates, stoppages by reason
WIP, VariancesCost still in production, variances at close
Production Status & Cost (R048)Reconciliation of every order to the cent

Pivot cross-tabs orders by product, work centre, month or status with measures such as planned quantity, hours and, with cost permission, actual cost. Graphs show production by month, plan vs actual, scrap trend, utilisation and cost variance.

Trace a lot

  1. Go to Manufacturing > Reports > Lot Traceability.
  2. Type the Lot or batch number and click Trace.
  3. Backward lists the components and orders that went into a finished lot. Forward lists the orders and deliveries a component lot reached.
  4. Click a row to open its order.

Example: tracing component lot LOT-TT-0925 forward shows the order MO-A it was issued to and the finished lot, then who received the delivery. Tracing the finished lot backward shows LOT-TT-0925 and the other components.

What happens next

Nothing is changed by reports. Lot traceability depends on lots recorded when materials are issued and finished goods are received, so choose the lot on every tracked issue.

Good to know

  • An unknown lot: 'No such lot.'
  • A report row opens its order only if you can view orders.
  • The Costing menu opens the same reports as Reports > WIP and Reports > Cost Variance.
  • Printed orders for users without cost permission show hours and quantities but no money.
