The messages you can meet in Inventory, what they mean and how to fix them.
Messages and fixes
| Message | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| 'Enter at least one done quantity to validate.' | Every Done quantity is zero. | Enter a quantity above zero on at least one line. |
| 'Done quantity must be between zero and the demand.' | You entered more than demanded, outside tolerance. | Reduce it, or use the over-receipt approval if allowed. |
| 'Insufficient stock for the product at the location: on hand 2, needed 5.' | The policy blocks negative stock. | Receive stock, deliver less, or ask for a different policy. |
| 'The product would go below zero. Somebody with the right to approve negative stock has to confirm it.' | The policy is Approval. | A holder of stock.negative.approve clicks Approve below zero and validate. |
| 'Lot <name> is <status> and cannot be moved out.' | The lot is on hold, quarantined or recalled. | Release it with the quality right, or choose another lot. |
| 'Lot name is expired and cannot be delivered.' | The lot is past its expiry. | Choose another lot, or dispose of it. |
| 'The product is tracked by lot: enter the lot number received.' | A lot product was validated with no lot. | Type the lot in the validate dialog. |
| 'Serial number(s) entered twice: SN-1001.' | The same serial was given twice. | Make each serial unique. |
| 'Serial SN-1001 is already in stock.' | That serial already exists. | Check the number; do not receive the same unit twice. |
| 'The product is not packed. Put every unit in a package before validating.' | The operation requires packing. | Click Pack into a new carton. |
| 'Only a draft picking can be edited. Cancel it, or return it.' | You edited a confirmed transfer. | Cancel and recreate, or return the goods. |
| 'A completed picking cannot be cancelled; use a return.' | A done transfer was cancelled. | Create a return. |
| 'Month is closed for stock. Post it in an open month.' | The date falls in a hard-closed period. | Use an open month's date, or reopen the period. |
| 'A stock movement dated before today needs the backdating right.' | The policy requires stock.backdate. | Ask a holder of the right, or use today's date. |
| 'The location is frozen by count <number>. Finish the count first.' | An open count freezes the location. | Approve or finish the count. |
| 'An adjustment must be approved by somebody other than the person who raised it.' | You approved your own adjustment. | Ask another person with stock.adjust. |
| 'A cycle count must be approved by a different user than the counter.' | The counter tried to approve. | Ask another user. |
| 'The variance is past the recount threshold: count it again before approving.' | The difference is too large. | Count again and save. |
| 'A revaluation must be approved by somebody other than the person who asked for it.' | Same person requested and approved. | Ask another user with inventory.revalue. |
| 'Releasing held stock needs the quality release right.' | You lack inventory.quality.release. | Ask a quality officer. |
| 'That estimate has already been replaced: a charge is capitalised once.' | A second actual tried to replace the same estimate. | Do not repeat; check the first landed cost. |
| 'Differences are accepted by somebody other than who ran the check.' | The same person signed off a cutover check with differences. | Ask another user. |
| 'Warehouse code is draft: activate it before stock moves through it.' | The warehouse has not been activated. | Mark reviewed and activate. |
| 'The code still holds or reserves stock: move it out first.' | You tried to archive a warehouse with stock. | Move the stock, then archive. |
| 'Cross-docking is disabled for this company.' (similar for other features) | The feature switch is off. | Ask an administrator to turn it on. |
| 'Record not found.' | The record belongs to another company or does not exist. | Switch company or check the link. |
| 'This record changed. Reload it before saving.' | Someone else saved first. | Reload and repeat your change. |
| 'You do not have permission for this action.' | Your role lacks the right. | Ask an administrator. |
